Oregon Resources Corporation
In 1990, Oregon Resources Corporation (ORC) identified a significant mineral sands resource located in southwestern Oregon.  A drilling program confirmed multiple commodities for industrial applications including chromite, zircon and garnet.

In the Fall of 2007, ORC received approval on two conditional use permits from Coos County.  One to construct a processing facility and the second to allow a mineral sands mining operation on designated property located in Coos County.

The mine permit was appealed to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals.  Oral arguments were heard on January 17, 2008.  On February 21, 2008, LUBA affirmed the County's decision.  To see LUBA's final opinion and order, please click here.

ORC is completing the final design of the processing plant with construction estimated to begin in the second quarter of 2009.  The company expects to begin hiring for operations in the fall of 2009.
